International Montessori, Austin, TX - School Policies
Please read carefully
School Timings:
School times are from 8.45AM to 12.00PM and from 8.45AM to 2.00PM.
Parents who wish to bring the children earlier could bring them in by 7.00AM, however
please make sure your child is at school no later than 8.45AM. Children must be picked up
PROMPTLY at 12.00PM, or at 2.00PM or before 5.30PM. Please note that if children are
not picked up at the above times, there will be a $15 charge for every 15 minutes of delay
which should be paid to the governing teacher.
School Year:
The School Year follows approximately that of the public school system, including the same
holiday schedule. You will receive the school calendar upon publication, including a
schedule for the summer sessions. Please note that ours is a private school, (and not a
daycare) providing academic programs by qualified teachers. Payments are therefore the
same every month regardless of scholastic holidays.
Holidays:
Schools are closed New Tear’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day,
Spring Break, Good Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving
Day and the day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Schools may also be closed on additional days during the major holidays in order to
provide employees with a longer holiday to spend with their families. There are no refunds
made for days on which the schools are closed for holidays.
Miscellaneous:
The school is interested in any information providing insight into the child’s behavior, such
as inability to sleep well for several consecutive nights, the birth of another child to the
family, stress occurring at home or at school. Parents are requested not to hesitate to
inform the school on such matters, either by telephone or by writing. Any unobserved
incident occurring at school, which has disturbed your child, should be reported in the
same manner. When you come to pick your child, let the child feel through your greetings
that you are interested in him/her, not only in his/her school progress, but also as to how
he/she feels, etc. Questions such as “What did you do today?” infer expectations of an
evaluative nature. When a child brings homework with him/her, give your true interest and
reflect his pleasure, without remarks, questions or criticism. We will explain the value and
meaning of his/her work and will welcome the opportunity to talk to you. Please do not ask
the teachers to baby sit as it is very difficult to handle the child in the classroom and baby-
sitting.
Thank you very much for your cooperation
